Grand Shaft Barracks, Western Heights, c1920
Built in c1800 to accommodate the infantry battalions for the two forts on the Western Heights, the Drop Redoubt and the Citadel. The Drop Redoubt can be seen at the top left of this picture, the shaft entrance, bottom right.
